“There are many kinds of power, used and unused, acknowledged or otherwise. The erotic is a resource within each of us that lies in a deeply female and spiritual plane, firmly rooted in the power of our unexpressed or unrecognized feeling. In order to perpetuate itself, every oppression must corrupt or distort those various sources of power within the culture of the oppressed that can provide energy for change.”
— Audre Lorde, “Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power”(1978)

(they/them/theirs)
I’ve been a hoe for as long as I can remember, and if there is one thing I know it’s that hoes make amazing teachers, leaders, friends, and confidants (and they never get cold!)
I am a recent graduate from the Master’s in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program at UNC Greensboro. I have always been passionate about comprehensive sexual education and Black feminism, believing that social justice is the key to sexual freedom.
What started as late night conversations and powerpoint parties in my freshman dorm has transformed into a passion project with aching legs. It longs to grow, to transform, and to exist in constant process. In honor of that desire, here is Hoe Talks, a place to find information, paths towards action, and to truly engage with important topics that affect us all and the world we live in together.
From informal conversations, to educational programming, to a podcast, and now a blog; Hoe Talks is more than just Sex Ed, and I am more than just a sex educator. I am a teacher, a comrade, a partner, a liberator, and so much more. Let me show you what I mean.
